Solas




SOLAS
The group has shown a willingness to experiment while still maintaining its roots in traditional Irish music. The band's instrumental dexterity plus its mixture of male and female vocalists have given the group a broad range and flexibility. Solas has carved out a special niche on the Irish/American scene, invigorating traditional music with fresh ideas and pioneering new directions for Celtic music. "As long as there are groups such as Solas," wrote Don Heckman in the Los Angeles Times, "Celtic music will continue to draw new, young audiences."

JAVIER
With the release of his self-titled debut in 2003, newcomer Javier proved himself a welcome addition to the canon of intriguing R&B singers. Indeed, not since Babyface has there been an artist who could write and sing beautifully crafted songs as well as throw down with an acoustic guitar and do it all with such pureness. "I like to be versatile with the styles of music I do but I try to keep it true to the genre while stretching it at the same time. A lot of record companies don't allow an artist to have that kind of creative freedom, so I consider myself one of the lucky ones."

DANGER RADIO
Danger Radio is an alternative dance-rock band from Everett, Washington. Using strong influences from modern rock and dance music from the 80s, Danger Radio has a style that blends funk with modern emo rock. Their music tends to be bass-centric, and fast paced similar to artists such as Hellogoodbye, PlayRadioPlay!, and Hot Hot Heat; while they are lyrically more closely oriented to bands such as The Rocket Summer, This Providence, and Daphne Loves Derby. Danger Radio features Andrew De Torres, from The Scene Aesthetic, as their lead singer.

MELISSA FERRICK
Melissa Ferrick has the kind of relationship with her audience that few artists are blessed with. Her live performance is fierce and funny, outspoken and vulnerable, passionate and real. The emotional honesty of Ferrick's first-person lyrics, the force of her vocal delivery and the disciplined fury of her musicianship connects her to her audience with confidence and grace.  She's been gaining fans since her first release at age twenty-two on Atlantic Records. Her next three recordings were released by indie label What Are Records. In 2000, Melissa launched her own label: Right On Records. Her newest album, "In the Eyes of Strangers" is the label's sixth release.

THE REVIVAL TOUR
In a match made in folk-punk heaven, Hot Water Music's Chuck Ragan, Avail's Tim Barry and Lucero's Ben Nichols will embark on The Revival Tour this fall, a series of shows that will see all three artists playing solo sets as well as performing on each other's material. "All the tours that I've done since I've been doing this solo stuff have in some way or the other ended up with a bunch of friends onstage by the end of the night," Ragan explains, adding that each performer will be joined by a backing band that will change based on geography and include many of their peers and previous tourmates. "I've always loved seeing that and now I'm absolutely loving creating something like that with good friends who think and believe along the same lines."

JESSE MALIN
Malin began his music career, at the age of 16, as the front-man for the seminal New York City hardcore band Heart Attack. Following the demise of that band in 1983, Jesse worked on several other projects, including the band Hope, before forming glam punk band D Generation, for which he was the lead singer for eight years.

MY BRIGHTEST DIAMOND
My Brightest Diamond is spearheaded by Shara Worden, granddaughter of an Epiphone-playing traveling evangelist, fathered by a National Accordion Champion, and mothered by a church organist. Having a family of musical wanderers who migrated across the US every few years, the landscape and the musical influences were constantly changing. Spanish tangos, Sunday morning gospel, classical and jazz were the accompaniment to her home life. Her first song was recorded at age three and by age eight she was studying piano and performing in community musical productions.
